Responsibility for the Next Generation
With our passion for new discoveries, we also carry a deep appreciation for nature. Sustainability is therefore a central driver of our actions: for the environment, for people, and for economic future. As one of the largest employers in the region, Breyden has been sustainably investing in environmental protection measures since the 1970s to protect the local population from noise, CO₂, and dust emissions.
Our
Responsibility
CO2-Emissionen
On the Way to Sustainable Production
One of the two foundries in Breidenbach is already fully electric. In the coming years, Breyden will continue to take new, green paths and replace the second foundry, which is currently operated with a cupola furnace, with a completely new, highly efficient foundry using electric melting units.
Dust Emissions
Reducing Our Emissions to Avoid Pollution
In recent years, we have invested in new dry dust collection systems to significantly reduce the exhaust gases generated during the melting process. The cleaning performance of these dust collection systems exceeds the legal dust limits by a factor of 100. Additionally, a new supply air system has been installed to bring fresh air to the workstations, ensuring that emissions are directed into the dust collection system. Further investments are planned for the coming years.
Green Electricity
Out of Deep Appreciation for Nature
Breyden is passionate about leading the way and exploring new paths. That’s why, out of consideration for the environment, we have been using 100% green electricity since 2019. We will continue and expand this green path in the future.
Sustainable Products
Resource-Saving Materials and Environmentally Friendly Product Solutions
Another key focus of our actions is to establish sustainable products in the market. Our brake discs are made from nearly 100% scrap metal. This gives old products a new, second or even third life. With the market launch of our iDisc I in 2017, we introduced a brake disc that generates up to 90% less fine dust and is significantly more durable than conventional gray cast iron discs. With the iDisc II, we will continue on this path and mass-produce Euro 7 compliant, fine-dust-reducing brake discs.
